The Natural Media & Engineering Group is very pleased to welcome Anette Rose as artist-in-residence for 2 months.
Her stay in Aachen is realized as a co-operation between Natural Media & Engineering and Lehrstuhl für Bildnerische Gestaltung (BIG, Faculty of Architecture) funded by the cluster of excellence "Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries".
Anette Rose works as an artist with video installations and is especially interested in the hand embedded in working processes. With her "Enzyklopädie der Handhabungen" (Encyclopedia of Handling) she depicts the interplay of hand, eye, and machine and tries to demonstrate how tools mimic the hand in various ways. "Beyond the culturally established separation between handwork and mental work, my interest lies in the diversity of connections between physically and mentally grasping the world, i.e. the relationships between the hand, the eye, and the word." says Anette Rose.
During her stay at RWTH Aachen University the artist will use the motion-capture-lab at Natural Media & Engineering group to film as well as integrating several machines at theWerkzeugmaschinenlabor (WZL, Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering) and the Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA).
