studied Technomathematik specializing Operations Research at the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, she obtained her Master degree in Software Systems Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. Melanie Neunerdt does her doctoral thesis at the Institute for Theoretical Information Technology (TI) in the research field of network planning and optimization.
Until March 2012 she worked in the research team “HUMIC” as part of the first period of the Human Technology Centre (HumTec) at RWTH Aachen University. Currently, she works in the follow-up Excellence project “WebDisk” dealing with computer-aided detection, risk assesment and targeted communication.
Melanie Neunerdt particularly works on the development of NLP methods (Natural Language Processing) for automatic processing of non-standardized Web 2.0 discourses. She focuses on the identification of evaluative speech acts and automatic opinion detection in social media texts.
